Toffee (Gretchen Thomas’ recipe)
2 c. sugar
4 sticks of butter (melted)
1/4-1/2 c. slivered almonds
1/2 c. wilburs chocolate coating wafers
-Grease cookie sheet
-Heat sugar and butter over high heat.
-Stir and whip constantly.
-Add a little bit of almonds
-Stir until amber brown (color of a wooden spoon)
-Pour onto a cookie sheet
-Cover with chocolate (use knife to spread evenly)
-Spread remaining almonds on top.
-Let it cool and then break into desired sizes.
